Advice for High School Part One

Hi friends!

Welcome back to the blog and happy March! I hope you are having a fantastic week. This week we interviewed two of our friends, Kesleigh and Anika. This is part one of their interview and we spent the majority of this episode talking about community! This post is going to be a summary of our conversation.

Community is hard but it is harder to do life alone in isolation. Community is a bunch of sinners coming together. Know that everyone will fail you. I know this might feel discouraging, but if you have this mindset going into community it will be more helpful to remember when people do fail you, not if people fail you. You should be dependent on the Lord first, and you should not put your community above your relationship with the Lord.

Sometimes, community is something you have to seek out. From personal experience, Anika approached me and asked if I wanted to be her accountability partner in eighth grade. This was the start of community for me. Something that I want to encourage you with if you feel like you do not have community is to be intentional and seek people out to be in community with.

Something to note is that community should always be in your life but it might not be the same people all of your life. A big part of being in a close community is who is in proximity to you. This might change throughout seasons of life. You might drift apart from people in different seasons, but you can still support them from a distance. The most important thing is to be known by people in your community no matter your season of life.

I want to encourage you by saying deep accountability and community take time. If you are discouraged, know that community takes trust to build relationships. I am praying for you and that you find community in whatever season of life you may be in.

My heart,

Sophie
