Confused

Updated: Mar 26, 2020

Hey guys!

Jesus replied, "You do not realize now what I am doing, but later you will understand." John 13:7

Experience

My mentor and I are currently reading to book of Daniel. Last week we read chapter 11, and in all honesty, I understood none of it. If you haven't read it, the chapter is a vision about four kings, but that's all I understood.

Thoughts

I've always been blessed to understand most of the Bible pretty easily, but I have almost never understood what God is doing in my life. It's something that is almost not possible to do. We don't know what God is doing when he allows bad things to happen. However we do know that he has a plan.

We live in a society that praises smart people. Those who have their lives figured out, who know how to handle every situation, and are set up to live a 'good' life. Although these people may seem to exist, no one really knows what's going on in their life. We can know what we see, hear, think, and do, but overall we don't know the effect of those things, or the reason behind every situation. Sometimes we just don't understand what God's doing and that's okay.

Connection

This was one of the first times that I read a passage, then researched it, and still ended up confused. My mentor mentioned how it was okay to not understand it. That's something that I'd never heard before. I've always been taught that I need to work until I understand something. She was at peace with not understanding confusing text.

We all go through things that leave us confused. They can leave us asking "how could this happen?" or "why did this happen?" We aren't promised that everything will be clear immediately. We are promised that eventually everything will be made clear. I pray that you find comfort amidst your confusion and God's timing.

Praying,

Addison Wimbish
