Greek Loves: Philia

Friends!

I hope all is well in your lives, we've had some crazy weather and I'm am personally crazy busy so this is going to be a bit of a shorter post, let's dive in.

This week we talked about Philia love, but sometimes its spelled "Phileo"so if you're doing further research and see that don't let it confuse you! This love is found in deep friendships. The kind of friends that are your closest community are who you love with this kind of love. It is mentioned in reference to loving one another in passages such as Romans 12:10, 1 Thes. 4:9, and Hebrews 13:1.

Sophie and I spent a lot of the episode discussing the depths of community and struggles that come with it. As much as I would love to cover all of it in this post, the reason we have the podcast is so that we can speak on certain topics so that there is much less confusion. I've found that discussing things like we talked about in the episode can get confusing or be misinterpreted, so if you want to hear personal experiences and advice I would highly encourage you to listen to the episode.

That said, the most important thing about Philia love is intentionality. Community is hard. You will be hurt by it and it will hurt you, but ultimately philia love abounds because it comes from the Lord and not the world or yourself.

I hope the shortness of this writing is alright with all of y'all, we bounced around quite a bit in the episode and I personally loved it; if you want to check it out there's a whole tab for it on this website or search "Our Hearts Surrendered" on any podcast platform!
