Hypocritical

Hey guys!

The dictionary definition of hypocritical as behaving in a way that suggests one has higher standards or more noble beliefs than is the case. My definition is holding someone to a standard that you don't follow yourself. For example, telling someone they need to eat healthier while you're eating cake, is hypocritical.

There have been times in my life where I've been hypocritical because I thought I was protecting someone. In reality, I was just being confusing and over-protective. My biggest pet peeve is when Christians are hypocritical in their faith. We are all sinners and a majority of the human race is guilty of falling into hypocrisy.

We need to be actively aware of when we are being hypocrites. Some examples would be telling others to read their Bible, pray, and be in community while you're not participating in any of those things. Satan uses our pride or selfishness to trick us into believing that we don't need to listen to our advice.

I consistently pray and read my Bible, and when people ask me what they should do to grow in their faith I tell them to pray and read. I learned to pray and read through my mentor who learned from her mentor. You see, if you don't follow through with your commitment or embellish what you're doing, you are not only affecting yourself but also others. If my mentor didn't read her Bible I wouldn't read mine and the cycle continues like that.

When we are hypocritical we are characterized as liars and people begin to not trust us. What you do affects people who look up to you, which is more people than you would think. I pray that God reveals whether or not you're being hypocritical. If you are I pray that God takes that away from you and you actively chose to listen to your advice.

Praying,
