I think a lot of times we have a habit of comparing ourselves to our past selves. Confusing concept, I know. Here's an example. I spend a lot of time thinking about how much more athletic and in shape I was my freshman year than I am now. Kind of like I'm comparing myself, to myself. I don't need to go back though. If that's how life worked we would never get anywhere. Where you were a few years, weeks, days ago, was good then, but where you are now is good for you now. The Lord has his timing and his will figured out, he knows when and where you should be part of something and if I tried to do that in my own timing it would be a huge failure in all honesty.

Dang Chris, for real say it louder for the people in the back. WE CAN'T LIVE NOW IF WE ARE STUCK IN THE PAST!!!! We have to move on and I know that is so hard and so upsetting sometimes. Leaving a good position of life is tough, especially when you know things are only going to get harder but it's so important. You cannot fully live out God's will and plan for your life if you are living in the past.
Then we get to my favorite part of the song.

Let your old dreams fall apart! There is so much freedom in not having to live up to what you thought you wanted. If I had to do exactly what I dreamed of in 6th grade I would be pursuing things I have absolutely no interest in anymore. Allow your expectations to fall apart. Go into your day and your life with no expectations and surrendering everything to Him.
